5-Minute Friday

Hi, Guys!!!

Happy Friday!  I am so excited that it’s Friday and the weekend is here.  I hope everyone had an awesome day today.  It was so hot again today here where I live.  This weather we are having is so crazy for this time of year.  I am going to a huge Craft festival tomorrow and it is usually cool and nice to walk around.  The temperature is supposed to be 85.  Yikes… it will be fun though!  I get so many ideas when I go to craft fairs and I always tell myself I can make that.  I end up never making those things and forget half of the craft items by the time I get home.  LOL

I made my 5-minute Friday project today and it was a decorative candle from the dollar store.  I have done a video before on how to make decorative candles but the ones I bought at the dollar store are LED ones, so you can actually use them.  They are a bit tricky to get the image on because the candles have a thin layer of wax on them so you have to get it right the first time or the image won’t stick or look good.  I plan on making a bunch of these for gifts and I want to make candles for all the holidays now.

Here is the video on how to make the candle:

Retiform Technique

Hi, Guys!!!

Happy Wednesday!!  I hope everyone is enjoying their day!  It has been so warm here in upstate NY the past week and it just seems to continue.  We had a pretty lousy summer weather wise and now it seems mother nature is making up for it now.  Our pool is closed along with 90% of the area so we can not enjoy the heat with our pool.  I am ready for the crisp coolness of fall.  I love summer when it is summer and I always say I want to move somewhere where it is warm all the time but the truth is I would be lost without all the seasons ( well maybe I could give up winter!)

Speaking of fall did you see the latest card I made using the Retiform Technique?

This technique has been around for years and lately, a lot of people have been using this technique so I thought I would try it with the Painted Harvest stamp set.  I love how this card turned out.  I have made a video on how to do this technique.  Its pretty easy to do too.

Here is a list of supplies I used.  You will also need Sticky notes.

5 Minute Friday using Colorful Seasons

Hi, Guys!!

Happy Friday!!  How was your day today?  I hope everyone had a great day today.  I am starting to get back into a routine now that the kids are back in school.  I really didn’t craft much this week, and I had all these plans to craft and post video’s all week.  Wishful thinking I guess.

Our weather has been so muggy and hot these last few days.  During summer we had terrible weather and now I am looking forward to the warmer, crisper days of Autumn and we are having a heat wave.  The weather has been so crazy all over.  I did make a beautiful card today.  I am trying to get into the fall mood and decided to take the solid leaf stamps from Colorful Seasons Stamp Set and do the baby wipe technique.

I love, love, love this card and it is so much prettier in person.  I used Pumpkin Pie cardstock for the A2 base.  I then cut a piece of Whisper White at 5 by 3 3/4.  I used this to stamp the leaves on.  I did the baby wipe technique which is so simple.  You take a baby wipe (any kind) and fold it in half.  Put the baby wipe in a container ( I used an old To go container) Then take your re-inkers.  I used Real Red, Garden Green, Tangerine Tango, and Crushed Curry and spread the colors all over the baby wipe.  I took the solid leaf stamps and first stamped in the versa mark then stamped onto the baby wipe, picked up some ink and then stamped it on the whisper white cardstock.  Once I had enough leaves on my whisper white I then took clear emboss powder and spread it all over the leaves.  I then heated the embossing powder and it left a textured feel to the leaves.  I love how they turned out.  You guys need to try it and you will love it so much.

I then used the Gourd Goodness Stamp set and stamped the pumpkins in Pumpkin Pie and Daffodil Delight on whisper white.  The stems were inked with Crumb Cake and Soft Suede.  I used the layering Circle Framelits to cut out the pumpkins.  I count them from the smallest to largest so I used the 7th circle and the 7th scalloped framelit to cut Pumpkin Pie cardstock.  I used snail adhesive to glue them together.  I also took the pumpkin pie inkpad and inked the edges of the circle.    I then took a sticky note and placed it near the top of the largest pumpkin.  I used Merry Cafe stamp set and took the sentiment Hello Fall it’s pumpkin spice latte season.  I used basic black and stamped only the Hello Fall on the pumpkins and the rest of the sentiment stamped on the sticky note.  I then glued the whisper white with the leaves on it to the front of the Pumpkin Pie A2 card base.  I used Stampin Dimensionals to pop the pumpkins up on the front of the card.  So simple and the leaves are so awesome.  I love the Gourd Goodness stamp set too.  The pumpkins look so real.  Here is the video I made for this for my 5-minute Friday.

Happy Friday!!

5-Minute Friday

Hi, Guys!!

Happy Friday!  I hope everyone is having a great day.  I had a great day and was able to accomplish a lot.  I made my 5-minute Friday video and I love the way this card turned out.

I used Pumpkin Pie cardstock for the card base which is an A2 size.  I then used the shimmery white cardstock which is cut at 5 1/4  by 4.  I had a scrap piece of cardstock and cut the small and large leaf framlit from the Seasonal Layers Thinlit Dies.  This piece was used as a stencil on top of the shimmery white cardstock.  I picked out the ink colors Real Red, Garden Green, Pumpkin Pie, and Crushed Curry to use for the leaf stencils.  I took a stamping sponge from Stampin’ Up! and cut it into triangles and used one each for the color inks.  I randomly placed the colors on each leaf and then colored the stem in with a Soft Suede marker.  I took a piece of crumb cake ribbon and put that on the top of the shimmery cardstock.  I then attached that to the Pumpkin Pie card base.  I then took a piece of Cajun Craze cardstock and cut the largest leaf out from the Seasonal Layers Thinlit Dies.  I used my emboss buddy on the top of that and stamped out the cursive thank you stamp from the Thoughtful Banners set, right on the center of the leaf with versa mark.  I then took gold emboss powder and embossed it and used Stamping Up dimensionals on the leaf to pop it up on the front of the card.  I put the leaf in the center of the Crumb Cake ribbon.  That was it.  Such a simple card but so stunning.

Here is the video on how I made this card.

Happy Friday!!

Sympathy Card

Hi, Guys!!!

Happy Thursday!!  I hope everyone has enjoyed their day today.  My kids went back to school today so I had accomplished a lot today.  It’s amazing how much you can get done with out interruptions and breaking up fights all day.  lol

I have been glued to the weather channel along with everyone else watching Hurricane Irma.  I will be thinking of everyone south of me and I hope it veers off course and heads into the sea.  It has caused so much damage already, it’s so scary.  I hope if you are in the path you stay safe and well.

I also did some crafting over the past few days.  I had to make sympathy cards.  I really love making all kinds of cards but sympathy ones.  They are always so hard to make for me.  I went online to find some samples and I found one and then I just added my twist to it.

It’s such a pretty card and really simple to make.  You can make a few of these to keep on hand for when you need one.  I used very vanilla for the A2 cardbase.  I also used very vanilla for the front of the card which measures 5 by 3 3/4.  The basic black card stock measures 5 1/4 by 4.  I used the stamping sponges and cut them into triangle pieces.  I used three of them for each of the colors I used.  The ink colors I chose were So Saffron, Peekaboo Peach, and Calypso Coral.  I then took sticky notes, the ones that have full sheets of sticky on them.  I cut a circle on my sticky note paper using the Circle Layering Framelit dies and I used the 6th circle.  I count smallest to biggest.  I placed the circle on the front of the very vanilla cardstock to form that very crisp circle.   I then used a scrap piece of paper under my card and started to make circle patterns with my sponge piece.  I then brought this onto my card front.  If you start with the ink right on your card base it could be too dark.  You can always add more ink but once you put too much on you can’t fix it.  I used So Saffron and Peekaboo Peach on the whole front of the card.  The Calypso Coral was only used on the bottom left-hand corner.  Once I was happy with the way my inks were on my very vanilla cardstock I lifted the sticky note circle to form that perfect circle.  I then used Basic Black to stamp the Cattails using the stamp set Wetlands from Stampin’ Up! (which is retired).  You can use any stamp that has grass or flowers.  A few of the current Stamp sets that would work are Beautiful Bouquet, Jar of Love or Wild about flowers.  I then continued using Basic Black for the rest of the card and I used the birds from the stamp set High Tide.  The with Sympathy was used from the stamp set Rose Wonder.  I then put it together using snail adhesive.  It was a pretty quick card to make and you could make quite a few of these so you would have them on hand.  I really love making all cards but the sympathy cards.  I also created a video on how to make this which I will leave at the end of this post.

I also wanted to remind you guys that there is a special going on until September 10 for new Paper Pumpkin subscribers.  You will get 1/2 off your first kit.  It’s a great deal and if you would like to learn more click here
